Don't punish the 'nation' for the inadequacies of those few people. However, if Telstra were dumb enough to only put in a 13 page submission to the largest telecommunications contract in the last decade or so, then I am not sure that they are capable of completing the job that is required... Keeping money in Australia for Australian's is very important, but I believe this has to be weighed up against getting the right people to complete the best job. This national broadband network is the cornerstone of Australia's economic growth. Is it safe to leave such a large responsibility in the hands of an organisation that can not even submit a complete proposal? Keeping money in Australia for Australian’s is very important, but I believe this has to be weighed up against getting the right people to complete the best job. This national broadband network is the cornerstone of Australia’s economic growth. It is a shame that politics got involved in this at all. Although it is naive to think that it wouldn't. I would have liked to have seen an Independent panel of suitable candidates (as conflict free/bipartisan as possible) set up to decide upon this.
